Some food companies hide behind rounding on nutrition facts so it's important to select products that give you full transparency into their ingredients.

Why are nutrition facts not enough?

Hidden sugars and starches are everywhere and we mean everywhere. It sparks from the nutrition facts that make it hard to decipher accurate net carbs because of FDA regulations.

Below, you'll see an example of a nutrition fact panel on our Keto Banana Caramel Muffin Mix. Under each nutrient like total carbs, fiber and erythritol, you'll notice that the measurements are displayed in whole numbers. That's not because food founders are ridiculously good at measuring. Per FDA regulations, nutrient levels should be rounded to the nearest whole number. 

 

Unless food brands are providing additional and accurate net carb math elsewhere on the package, the nutrition facts aren't telling the full story.

For example:

If you calculated net carbs based on the nutrition facts of our Keto Banana Caramel Muffin Mix, the total net carb math equals 1g net carbs.

Based on the exact measurements of what we know is in our products, the true net carb math equals 1.8g net carbs.

That's almost a 1g net carb difference between the nutrition facts and what the true net carb math really is.
